The series, adapted from a trilogy of novels authored by Hugh Howey, is currently in the midst of its second season on the streaming platform. The commitment to two seasons will enable the production to convey the entirety of its narrative.
“It has been an immensely fulfilling journey to bring Hugh’s monumental novels to life alongside our collaborators at Apple, and we are excited to have the chance to present this complete narrative over four seasons,” stated Graham Yost, the showrunner and executive producer. “With the concluding two installments of Silo, we eagerly anticipate providing the audience with a deeply satisfying resolution to the numerous enigmas and unresolved queries that lie within the confines of these silos.”
Apple CEO Tim Cook announced on X, “I am pleased to reveal that ‘Silo’ will be returning for both a third and fourth season! We are excited to support the creativity and innovation emerging from the UK as they continue to produce exceptional films and series.”
The series features Rebecca Ferguson, who also serves as an executive producer, portraying one of the last 10,000 inhabitants on Earth residing in a mile-deep structure designed to shield them from a toxic and lethal environment above. The origins and purpose of the silo remain a mystery, and those who attempt to uncover the truth face dire repercussions. Ferguson’s character, Juliette, an engineer, is on a quest for answers regarding the murder of a loved one, leading her to uncover a mystery that is far more complex than she ever anticipated.
“I have cherished every moment of bringing Juliette to life and take great pride in what we have accomplished with Silo since its inception,” Ferguson stated. “I have always been passionate about conveying the complete narrative found within Hugh Howey’s novels, so I am thrilled that audiences worldwide have warmly received the show. Together with our partners at Apple, Graham, and the entire cast and crew, I eagerly anticipate exploring these final two thought-provoking seasons that will elegantly wrap up this dystopian saga.”
Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, remarked, “The captivating, innovative, and emotionally resonant Silo has captivated us from the very beginning, and it has been a joy to witness global audiences become equally enchanted by the world crafted by Graham Yost. As we prepare for the third and fourth seasons of this ambitious, character-driven sci-fi series, which will conclude Juliette Nichols’ journey and complete Hugh Howey’s remarkable trilogy, we are excited for everyone to experience more of the show’s powerful performances led by the extraordinary Rebecca Ferguson, along with the unexpected twists, turns, and surprises that have become hallmarks of this deeply human narrative.”
The cast of the second season of Silo includes Tim Robbins, Common, Steve Zahn, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Billy Postlethwaite, Rick Gomez, Clare Perkins, Caitlin Zoz, Tanya Moodie, and Iain Glen.
The series is produced by Apple Studios, with Yost (known for Justified and The Americans) serving as an executive producer alongside Michael Dinner, Nina Jack, Joanna Thapa, Ferguson, Morten Tyldum, Howey, Fred Golan, Rémi Aubuchon, and AMC Studios.
